Luke, Luke, Luke. Newcastle Rugby circles always wanderers how your chubby little arms suddenly grew muscles, why you suddenly went from being a fat dumpy boy to a square jawed front rower. There will be no more woo wooing for you will there? In an article broken by the smh today, it revealed that Troy, the former Waratah and Newcastle representative prop has been banned until 2011 from playing Rugby by ASADA in what was a "lengthy appeal."
Although Troy didn't actually test positive to any banned substance, the court of arbitration appealed the decision of the ARU and found Troy guilty. Troy explained to the court that he intended to use the steroids he had bought over the Internet to help him recover from "injury and as a meal supplement." Was he putting them on his corn flakes instead of sugar?
This revealed action needs to be dealt with by the NHRU. Troy needs to be struck from every single team he has played in while representing the competition. I suggest their should also be an enquiry into the whole Waratah Rugby Club, especially those involved in 2006, when customs and ASADA first intercepted Troy's purchase over the Internet. He should of stuck to searching for male porn to build his arms.
As far as the hornet is concerned, Troy is a grub. It is obvious he has taken university for a ride this year and acted unscrupulously while under these proceedings. Maybe the Uni team should also be looked at for this year to see if Troy has slipped some boost juice into their needles. With TmcD, playing there as well, its unfortunate, but he is now tarred with the same brush.
No wonder he earned the nickname "showbag." It wasn't candy he'd pull out of his bag, that's for sure. Troy has always been talentless. It is blatantly obvious he has cheated to gain a little bit extra. Did he not realise it was just local Rugby?

ReplyDeleteNHRU should strip waratah of their premiership in 2006 because of Troys drug involvement. This incident would not be the first time he has been involved with these drugs. He knew what he was looking for. This means university will finally get the major prize. No more second place for the students. They can celebrate mad monday this year after the GF when the NHRU will announce premiers for 2006 and 2009 next weekend.

Who else in this shamefull club was involved? This should be more fun than outing the Blue Oyster Bar boys!

we have consistantly moved under-performing players on (which was usually compounded by their recreational drug use).

Matt/Tim: The issue in the article is performance enhancing drugs, which are illegal. I can't actually speak for the greens, blues and hawks as I am not associated with any of them and am merely providing commentry on a relevant article. If testing these teams makes your conscience feel better about having a cheat at your club,then I'd suggest you go to the NHRU and go through the proper chanels

Thats not the issue that the Troy incident brings to light. The fact is it was in 06 and the paying public want to know if this incident was isolated the year you won the Grand final?

Hornet, this was known by a few people close to Luke after he had finished with the Tahs and gone to Canberra. Impossible for any1 at Tahs apart from luke himself to know if he was using/buying while with Tahs as he was gone when the whole thing came to light. He's a big boy (no pun intended) so he has to deal with his issue/problem, nothing to do with the Tahs or the NHRU so thoughts about holding the whole 2006 side and the club accountable is over the top. And he is not a grub. Not justifying what he did but Luke is a great bloke, those who know him would agree, he just made a bad, stupid decision to do something he thought would help him in competitive rugby in canberra 3 years ago. Hope this sheds a little light.

Finnie, kramer, john hall, luke kermode, lee martin, shane shelley, gareth wasik, carl patterson-none were banned and all wanted to go with their friend the rodent chalky because HE was banned. Ask them they'll tell you. The others? Who knows what you're dribbling about my mind doesnt go back to the 80's!! And what happened when that rabble left the club in 2002, oh they won a premiership in 2003, problem solved and problem then moved to MC who took em with open arms.

Lesbot: i think you'll find that half the players went to Hamilton and half to Carlton, after training the full off season with Lake Mac, following Burkey. Kramer left mid season to pursue his dream of playing Rugby in Canada.I myself was going to play with Carlton anyway as 18 months playing with Waratah, I was over the club culture with fights on busses the handling of 300+ game veteren Anthony Watson a few of the old boys hanging around with not much to do. The only good thing about the club was the toey barmaids.Shit club with wankers like you and all the good blokes left.

ReplyDeleteWhoever you people are, you are very sad indeed. This blog and any other blog with rugby as its focus should stick to rugby. To hold these personal vendettas against clubs that play this great sport and attack individuals without putting your name to what is written is cowardly, petty and disrespectful. I have recently been alerted to this blog where my character as a person has been attacked. I can take the jibes about my rugby ability as i have nothing left to prove anymore...i like playing rugby..simple as that. But to claim i am involved in this blog with random anonymous comments and to then bring my mother into it...who by the way passed away after a long battle with cancer in December 2003...well it speaks volumes to me who my real 'rugby' mates are. I don't care for the reasons people leave the Waratahs to play elsewhere...good luck to all of you...Waratahs is a great club with its ups and downs as do all of the clubs. Waratahs aren't the perfect model for a club nor i suggest is any other club in newcastle. Thats what rugby is all about...improving with the personnel willing and dedicated. Again anyone with a problem willing to discuss these matters should do it through the proper channels...not attack people hiding behind your keyboards.
